Chas Everitt International Property in Gauteng, Sandton, Inanda

History

Inanda has its roots,as far as I can ascertain, in the late 1920s with the founding of the Inanda Club and Marist Brothers Inanda. These two institutions and its beautiful, mainly level land, have long caused it to be seen as a highly desirable place to own property.

The establishment of The Inandas, a cluster home complex on Rivonia Road, in 1990, created many further property owning opportunities. The development was created by Gallic and financed by Liberty Life. It is a magnet for wealthy, often middle aged, cash buyers who are seeking a luxury "lock up and leave" lifestyle with good security.

An unfortunate murder there in 2007 gave rise to many selling decisions, but this fear and the realisation that this was an isolated incident, eventually caused some of the home owners to re-consider their decisions to sell.

The suburb is situated between Chiselhurston in the north, Illovo on the south and Athol on the east. Rivonia Raod is its western border. It is known for its excellent security, tree lined streets and proximity to the hub of Sandton.

Local attractions

Sandton City and the Inanda Club. The Inanda Club has recently started attracting many younger people because of the establishment of the restaurant, da Vinci's (2008) which is open six days a week and has access to part of the Inanda Club garden. Its attraction for younger people lies partly in its relaxed dress policy and partly in its playground with safe and robust equipment. One of the major events at the Inanda Club (apart from numerous corporate functions, is the annual polo festival.
